Request from the Gifu Sekigahara Battlefield Memorial Museum

Gifu Sekigahara Battlefield Memorial Museum requests the cooperation of all visitors to the Memorial Museum in relation to the below items for the sake of safety and a pleasant visit. This is also stated in the pamphlet handed out at the reception area. We hope that you will follow the rules of conduct so that everyone can have an enjoyable time at the Memorial Museum.

  • Do not run inside the Memorial Museum.
  • Please view the exhibits quietly, taking care not to disturb other visitors.
  • Taking photographs of the 1st Floor video and inside the 2nd floor Exhibition Room is forbidden.
  • Please do not touch the exhibits or display cases.
  • Eating, drinking, and smoking are forbidden.
  • Please refrain from using mobile phones.
  • Please deposit large baggage and umbrellas in the available coin lockers.
  • You are forbidden to bring in hazardous items or flames.

Precautions when viewing the film in the theater

The Memorial Museum’s theater is an experience-based attraction, so please fully understand the following when viewing in the theater.

  • The theater film has a visceral sense of presence, so it may make some visitors feel nauseous.
  • As well as images, the film features effects such as loud noise, stroboscopic light, and vibrations, so please note that it may not be suitable for small children, elderly people, pregnant women, people in poor physical condition, people who suffer travel sickness, people with abnormal blood pressure, people suffering heart disease, people sensitive to special effects, people scared of heights and dark places, and people who suffer from claustrophobia.
  • Please tell a member of staff if you start to feel unwell during the performance.

Q.Is there a car park?

A.The South Car Park has parking for 70 regular vehicles. Parking is free of charge.

Q.Is there a car park for buses?

A.The North Car Park has parking for 8 buses. Parking is free of charge. Please contact us in advance if you wish to use this car park.

Q.Can I re-enter the Memorial if I leave the building?

A.You can re-enter the Exhibition Room on the 2nd floor and the Observation Room on the 5th floor. However, a numbered ticket is needed for the Ground Vision attraction and the Theater on the 1st floor, so you may not be able to re-enter them if numbered tickets are no longer being distributed.

Q.Can I make a reservation to visit the Memorial?

A.An advance reservation system is currently in place to combat the spread of COVID-19. Individual reservations (19 people or less) can be made via the website. Please contact us by telephone to make a group reservation for 20 people or more.

Q.How far in advance should I make a reservation?

A.You can make an individual reservation from 50 days to one day (by 3.00 p.m.) in advance. However, we would ask you to make a reservation as early as possible as it is handled on a first-come-first served basis. In the case of group reservations, please contact us by telephone from six months to 51 days in advance.

Q.Can I change a reservation?

A.You can cancel a reservation up to one day (by 3.00 p.m.) in advance, so please do this on the website reservation page. In the case of group reservations, cancellations can be made by telephone up to 1 week in advance.

Q.What will happen if I arrive after my reserved time? 

A.Your reservation will be treated as cancelled, so please allow enough time to arrive by your reserved time.

Q.Is there anywhere to take refreshments?

A.The shopping building adjoined to the Sekigahara Battlefield Memorial Museum has a café and restaurant. Eating and drinking is forbidden in the main Memorial Museum building in order to protect the exhibits.

Q.Are the exhibits explained in foreign languages?

A.In addition to Japanese, exhibits are, for the most part, also explained in English. In addition, the Theater and Ground Vision films have English subtitles, and some films in the Exhibition Room also have commentary in English, French, and Chinese.

Q.Are there any leaflets in foreign languages?

A.There are leaflets available in English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and French.

Q.Is there anywhere to leave baggage?

A.Please use the coin lockers in the Memorial Museum building. Your money is returned after use.

Q.Can I get around the Memorial in a wheelchair?

A.The Memorial is barrier free, so you can visit the Memorial Museum without concern.

Q.Are there toilets for people with physical disabilities?

A.There are multi-purposes toilets on the 1st and 2nd floors.

Q.Can I see the film in the theater with a wheelchair?

A.Yes, you can. However, there are limited spaces, so please ask in advance at reception.

Q.How long do the Ground Vision and Theater films last?

A.The Ground Vision film lasts about 8 minutes while the Theater film is about 9 minutes. Please allow about 30 minutes for the films as we have to guide visitors in turn to the facilities on the 1st floor.

Q.Can I record images with a camera or video?

A.Excluding the 1st floor Entrance Hall, 2nd floor Sengoku Experience Corner, and the 5th floor Observation Room, taking photographs and recording video are prohibited. This rule particularly applies to exhibits, so we thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
