Applying for a “Sekigahara Historic Site Tour Guide”
“Sekigahara Historic Site Tour Guides” are composed mainly of members who took the Sekigahara Town Historic Site course for 2 years. They will guide you on the famous and historic sites of Sekigahara in accordance with your desired time and route, fitting in with your travel plans. In addition, there are also recommended tours with fixed departure and arrival times, to offer peace of mind for people visiting Sekigahara for the first time. Tours led by guides familiar with Sekigahara will help you understand and appreciate Sekigahara.
How to Apply
Either apply directly via the dedicated reservation website or download an application form from the Sekigahara Tour Guide website and complete it and fax it to us by up to 2 weeks in advance. You can also apply by telephone.
Same-day applications are permitted only for the recommended fixed departure and arrival time tours.

- If your tour starts before and finishes after lunch, customers are asked to pay the tour guide’s lunch expenses. However, if customers will be bringing a packed lunch, the tour guide will also bring a packed lunch. In such a case, you will be charged an additional ¥1,000 on top of the tour guide fee.
Renting a Bicycle
Renting a bicycle is convenient for touring the Sekigahara battlefield and surrounding historical sites. Have fun getting about on your own while feeling the cool seasonal breeze on your skin. We also have electric bicycles to help you glide up hilly roads, as well as bicycles for children.

Reception time finishes 4.30 p.m. Bicycles must be returned by 5.00 p.m.
- The Sekigahara Historic Memorial is closed on Mondays and the period from 29th December to 3rd January, so bicycles are not rented on those days.

Seven symbolic historic battlefield hiking routes were established after reading up on anecdotes about the most famous seven samurai generals (Seven Samurai Generals of Sekigahara) of the Battle of Sekigahara.
Tokugawa Ieyasu Route
From Tokugawa Ieyasu’s First to Final Encampment
What was Ieyasu aiming for when he moved his headquarters from Mt. Momokubari to the main battlefield when the western Army was unexpectedly putting up a good fight? This is a hiking route that makes you appreciate the strong desire of Ieyasu to unify the whole country, which was interwoven in his tactics throughout the entire Battle of Sekigahara and his gamble to move his headquarters.
Ishida Mitsunari Route

Serving as a staff officer of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Ishida Mitsunari was handed the task of unifying the whole country. This is a hiking route that traces the story of a man who was both rational and a mixture of good and bad, and who lived to uphold his responsibility of defending to the death the Toyotomi clan.

Gaining the favor of Ieyasu and working hard in diplomatic circles from the outset, Nagamasa’s scheming from the Oyama meeting to the Kobayakawa Hideaki strategy and overthrow of the formidable enemy, Shima Sakon, led the Eastern Army to victory. This hiking route looks back on Nagamasa’s tactics and success at the Battle of Sekigahara both in front of and behind the scenes.
